CDW Slams House Passage of FLCA, Calls on Senate to Recognize its Dangers
On June 9, the House of Representatives passed the Faster Labor Contracts Act. All Democrats and 20 Republicans supported the bill, which would give unprecedented authority to the federal government to interfere with labor-management relations in the private sector. The bill passed despite widespread concern about the implications of the bill, as evidenced by the CDW-led opposition letter signed by 377 employer organizations and dozens of op-eds from media outlets across the country.
The following can be attributed to CDW Chair Kristen Swearingen:
“CDW is disappointed that the House has passed legislation that will strip workers of their voice in the workplace and empower a government take over of private contracts. The bill provides no recourse for Americans that lose jobs and businesses that close as a result of government negligence and incompetence.
“As this bill heads to the Senate for consideration, CDW hopes Senators will recognize this bill for what it truly is — an overt attempt to increase union leverage at the bargaining table at the expense of workers, job creators, and the economy.”
