CDW Urges Senate to Oppose Mandatory Arbitration

On March 26, the Coalition for a Democratic Workplace and 42 employer organizations sent a letter to the Senate urging they oppose the Faster Labor Contracts Act, which would impose mandatory arbitration on the private sector and allow the federal government to mandate terms of contracts between unions and companies.

The following can be attributed to CDW Chair Kristen Swearingen:

“The Faster Labor Contracts Act would allow, for the first time in US history, the federal government to dictate the employment terms for workers in the private sector. It runs directly counter to President Trump’s agenda to rein in the federal bureaucracy, threatens the economy and jobs, infringes on workers’ right to collectively bargain, and violates the Constitution. Senators should reject this bill and protect workers and employers’ rights and the economy from this massive expansion of government power.”
