MAINE SENATOR SUSAN COLLINS AND AAF PRESIDENT SLAM PRO ACT BEING INCLUDED IN BIDEN’S INFRASTRUCTURE PLAN

Economist and American Action Forum (AAF) President Doug Holtz-Eakin slammed President Biden’s inclusion of the PRO Act in his infrastructure plan on CNBC’s Squawk Box:

“…toss in this Protecting the Right to Organize PRO Act, which is an extraordinarily anti-growth provision. On balance this is bad for economic growth and bad for the economy. So the PRO Act would preempt Right to Work laws in 27 states. It would change the classification of workers and independent contractors much like California has with its ABC legislation. It would embrace the joint-employer standard that would allow essentially the end of the franchise model in the United States. So it would get rid of the prohibition on secondary boycotts and lead to a lot of very disruption in the flow of goods and services. So none of that is about creating jobs or creating greater productivity. So I have real concerns about the economic policy that’s in this proposal.” (Click here to watch Doug Holtz-Eakin’s segment on the PRO Act)

Maine Senator Susan Collins questions why the PRO Act was included in Biden’s infrastructure plan on WGAN News Radio (Portland, ME):

“Shawn, I think all of us would agree that we need a robust infrastructure package, but this goes way beyond that. It has provisions in it that would change the laws for unionizing, including a bill called the PRO Act that would eliminate secret ballots for workers so that they can choose whether or not they want to belong to a union. It would preempt state Right to Work laws. It is an enormous rewrite of our laws on labor management issues. And what is that doing in an infrastructure bill?” (Click here to listen to Senator Collins’ segment on the PRO Act)
