CDW: NLRB Proposed “Ambush Elections” Rule Under Further Review
Card Check Opponents Disappointed But Not Deterred
WASHINGTON, D.C. // FEBRUARY 5, 2014 // Today, the Coalition for a Democratic Workplace (CDW) released the following statement on behalf of chairman Geoffrey Burr following news that the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has issued a new proposed rule that would erode rights for employees and employers.
“There continues to be no merit in eroding workplace rights, when current NLRB statistics show that the median time between a petition filing and the election is 38 days. Moreover, 94 percent of elections occur within 56 days. Union bosses are already winning 65 percent of elections, so the desperate attempt to deny employees a thoughtful process is just unfair.
“Our coalition has successfully fought back against card check and various card-check-lite efforts, of which today’s news is just the latest example. CDW will be reviewing the proposed rule before taking further action.”
