CDW Lauds Passage of Workforce Democracy and Fairness Act

Rep. Kline’s Bill Means Restoring Balance At NLRB

WASHINGTON, D.C. // NOVEMBER 30, 2011 // Today, the Coalition for a Democratic Workplace, which represents over 600 employers, associations and other organizations operating in every Congressional District, lauded the House passage of the Workforce Democracy and Fairness Act, H.R. 3094, which was sponsored by Rep. John Kline.

The vote of 235-188 came on the same day as two unelected Members of the National Labor Relations Board announced they intend to deny employers certain legal and due process rights during union representation elections. The changes will harm employees, who will have less time to hear from their employers and will have insufficient opportunity to assess the validity of union organizers’ claims and promises which may be false, misleading or unrealistic.

CDW Chairman Geoffrey Burr said, “We thank Chairman Kline for his continued leadership. While a small agency is working hard and surreptitiously to erode the rights of employees and employers, it’s clear those groups have a champion in the legislature.” Burr added, “Employers everywhere ask that the Senate immediately take up and pass this bill.”
